5-a-side soccer is fast paced soccer played on a field that is 85’ x 55’. About the size of a basketball court or Futsal court.  Players of all ages, skills and abilities love 5-a -side whether it be for the amount of touches you get, the amount of goals you score, or the amount of fitness you receive.  The big question remains, when picking your teammates, what are you looking for?  Some players are technical, some are strong, fast, athletic,  leaders, and so on.

Scenario: You are the manager for the 5-a-side World Cup. You can pick any 5 players in the world, who do you choose?

Do you go with speed? Marcelo, Willian, Sane, Bale come to mind. Quick and agile with a motor that doesn’t get tired. 

Do you go with skill?  Messi, Hazard, or maybe Neymar? Technical players that can take players on 1v1.

Do you go with power?  Silva, Ramos, or Hummels?  Brawn with brain, need to defend and position well.

Maybe a striker? Aguero, Lewandowski, Suarez, or Kane? A player that knows how to put the ball in the back of the net and finds themselves in the right place at the right time.

And you might need a facilitator?  De Bruyne, Ozil, or Kroos? Visionary players who see and execute the key passes to break down a defense. 

Do you look for athleticism and a hydbrid of attributes?  Ronaldo, Pogba, Mbappe? 

And don’t forget about the keeper!  Neuer, Buffon, De Gea, Courtois, or maybe Lloris? Do you go for the long and tall shot stopper or the keeper with the best distribution?
